About Hawarden FM

Our Mission
Hawarden FM is a non-profit rural station for the Lake Diefenbaker region. We broadcast commercial-free music, local voices, and the stories that ride the prairie wind. Our goal is to keep neighbors connected — through a good song, a timely alert, or news that actually matters here....but, lets be honest, you probably already heard the news from your neighbor.

Our Mission
Canadian-Focused Broadcasting

We strive to be double the Canadian content of other broadcasters. CRTC requires a minimum of 35% Canadian content for commercial broadcasters but Hawarden FM will always be above 75% Canadian content. We will be starting with 100% Canadian made but we do have friends all around the world, I don't want to close the door on them.

FAQ Section

What is Hawarden FM?

Hawarden FM is a non-profit rural radio station offering commercial-free music via streaming and broadcast. We will be streaming to start but our goal it to cover the Hawarden area, Glenside, Strongfield, Broderick and Loreburn.

How can I listen?

You can listen to Hawarden FM through our website or via local broadcast in the area once our licensing is complete.

What type of music do you play?

We play a variety of commercial-free music genres, a fair bit of country but also pop, rock and EDM. All our music is currently AI assisted music.

What is "AI assisted music"?

AI-assisted music means we use artificial intelligence as a creative tool, not as a replacement for musicians. Think of it like a new kind of instrument in the studio. We feed ideas — lyrics, melodies, or themes — into the AI, and it helps generate drafts or backing tracks. Then people step in: editing, arranging, adding live instruments, and making choices only humans can make.

The result isn’t machine-made background noise; it’s music shaped by human taste, intention, and community spirit, with AI working in the background to speed up the process and open new creative doors.

How can I support?

Hawarden FM runs as a non-profit station. We’re not a registered charity, but we can accept -if you’d like to pitch in. Every dollar goes toward keeping the station on the air with reliable, good-quality equipment and our future growth.

We’re not taking used gear right now — unless someone has a free 99-foot tower lying around. Otherwise, starting out with clean, new electronics keeps the sound clear and the headaches minimal.

If you’d like to support, donations are the most direct way to help.
